Module 1: Introduction/Start Here!

Introduction to Module 1: Have you ever seen "Finding Nemo"? It's a Disney film about a daddy fish (Marlin) that searches the ocean for his lost son, Nemo. Now, before you watch this clip, pretend that you are Marlin (cautious/protective parent) or Dory (his seemingly clueless travel buddy) and pretend I'm the baby turtle (Squirt).

You may feel a little lost or overwhelmed as we take this journey through "How to Teach Online". You may think, "He's really cute, but I don't understand a word he is saying, he should say the first thing again". But when it's all said and done you might find you've had some fun and enjoyed yourself, like Marlin.

If you're cool, calm and collected, rock on.

Note: I've taught students from 9th grade to adult. Freshmen through doctoral students. Initially, I assumed (as we all know what assuming does: makes an 'ass' out of "u" and "me") graduate students did do not need a netiquette lesson. It turns out, they can be just as rude as 9th graders! I NEVER skip netiquette, it seems it's always appropriate to remind students how to treat each other, especially online.

Topic II: Q (question) & A (answer) Discussion Board

Options for Technical Support & Course Questions (and Answers):

a. Ask a peer, i.e. classmate. Always post your questions to the Q & A (Question & Answer) discussion forum (see "Discussions" on the left). If you have a question, most likely someone else does as well, they just haven't asked. Also, we'll help each other find the correct answers.
